Welcome Back!

Would you believe … my last server hosting experience turned out to be a complete disaster? True story, the guy apparently decided to close down the server, disconnect his phone and never reply to any emails. I was hosting two sites with this guy and they both just dropped from the face of the earth.

New hosting company new story!

This time I decided to host with one of the largest hosting companies in the world. These guys are extremely pro and their chat support is available 24/7. I feel completely at ease and safe with them.

But enough with the ramblings – more to come – stay tuned!

  1. Hi Nick!

    … been a while, duh?
Good to see you online again :-)

Have a good Time, my friend – I´ll keep watching you ;-)

    Best regards
    Udo

  2. Hey Nick!

I hope you don’t hate me now man. I know I’m the
dumbass that talked you into hosting with the
company you are talking about. I wasn’t online
when this happened to you, or it wouldn’t have
    happened. ;)

But let me explain the situation…

The server was under attack and was continually
getting hacked into. The server admin wrote a
notification within cPanel, which you should have
seen at the top of cPanel after logging in.
However, I know that you probably use FTP and
    don’t bother logging into cPanel.

He did do one other thing to try to warn customers,
He suspended accounts and sent (or tried to send)
notifications explaining the problem (at least,
that’s what I’m told). However, if your contact
email was setup as one of your domain emails, you
    obviously couldn’t get that email.

I personally lost all of my sites too, so I do feel
your pain. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying
to convince you to host with them again. That’s not
even an option in my mind (although he is still
running servers). I don’t host with them either at
    this point.

He also said that he will check with the datacenter
to see if they still have any backups.

  3. Hey Matt,

Nah are you crazy? I’m not even sure it was the hosting you recommended? I won’t name any here, but it was a danish company my last provider. I’ve been quite unlucky with servers, but must admit I am very pleased with my current so far :)

Great to hear from you Matt! We need to catch up on things real soon!

  4. Whew!

Nope, that’s not the one I recommended. I was thinking you still hosted on the servers I helped migrate your sites to a couple years ago. Since I had emailed you a few times and never heard back, I thought maybe it was because of the hosting problem after I read your blog. I guess I should have known better but the time frame was exactly the same as when our server was attacked by a hacker. LOL ;)

Anyway, yeah we do need to talk soon! Hit me up on Yahoo if you still use it. My ID is still FreeAdPower. :)

  5. Hey Claude,

I have no experience with kiosk hosting but I now have a great deal of only positive experience with my current host which is HostGator. 24/7 live sales/support chat on their site has proved to be a great help for me :)
